Simnia Singer-Sayada
Simnia (view resume) was born in Ithaca New York to a Tunisian Israeli Jewish father and American Jewish Mother. Simnia is a artist/educator and dialogue facilitator with a Master's degree from New York University in Educational Theater, and a BA in Educational Theater from Emerson College. Her life's work is human rights awareness and social change through theater and the arts.
Simnia works with youth from the U.S. and around the world on conflict transformation by way of dialogue, Forum Theater, voice and movement. She co-created Shalom Sahbity with an Egyptian American, which brings interactive conflict-resolution based performances to various professional and school settings. She is actively exploring ways that the arts have been a part of liberation and transformation for people around the world, making dialogue and education through the arts a part of a larger global conversation and hope for action.
Catherine Hanna
Catherine Hanna (view resume) is an educator/performer/writer with a Master’s in Educational Theater from New York University. Catherine has taught various subjects using active learning methods in Chicago, Egypt, Honduras, Uganda, and Kenya. Currently she teaches students of all ages in NYC Public Schools, using creative/dramatic methods to teach literacy, violence prevention, and original performance writing.
Catherine is part of a Forum Theater troupe which brings interactive conflict-resolution based performances to various professional and school settings. She spends her summers working with youth in Uganda coordinating a Teacher Exchange Volunteer Program and in Kenya assisting in implementing sustainable business and various educational projects.
